Futuro Nazionale rises to 8% in Italian political polls
A recent BiDiMedia poll indicates a significant shift in the Italian political landscape. Fratelli d'Italia remains the leading party with 25.4% of the vote, though it has experienced a slight decline. The Democratic Party holds 21%, while the Movimento 5 Stelle has grown to 12.6%.
Notably, the newly formed Futuro Nazionale, led by former general Roberto Vannacci, has surged to 8% in voting intentions, overtaking Forza Italia, which sits at 7.3%. This rise has sparked debate within the center-right coalition. While Edmondo Cirielli suggested a potential coalition with Vannacci to bolster security themes, Fratelli d'Italia has distanced itself from the idea, stating such an alliance is not on the agenda.
Political tensions have also risen following comments by PD president Stefano Bonaccini, who characterized the electorate for right-wing leaders as being composed primarily of people with lower education levels and economic hardship. Vannacci responded by stating he is “proud and honored” to represent workers, including laborers, farmers, and artisans, accusing the left of looking down on the working class.
Additionally, Domenico Giannetta has officially left Forza Italia to join Futuro Nazionale, criticizing his former party for being managed in a “private and family-oriented manner.”
