Futuro Nazionale shooting event in Tolve sparks political controversy

The Basilicata section of the political party Futuro Nazionale organized a training event at the ‘Accademia dei cavalieri’ shooting range in Tolve, Potenza. The event, titled ‘Accademia dei futuristi’, included theoretical lessons on the safe handling of handguns, ballistics, reloading, and cleaning, followed by a practical session and an informal competition.

The event has sparked political controversy. Giulio Curatella, the local coordinator for Futuro Nazionale, defended the initiative by stating that sport shooting holds the same dignity as any other discipline, such as football, and noted that the party has previously organized various social activities.

Conversely, Delia D’Eugenio, provincial spokesperson for Alleanza Verdi e sinistra, criticized the event, arguing that politics should encourage democratic participation rather than a fascination with weapons. She expressed concern that associating weapon use with social gatherings, particularly by offering free participation to those under 30, sends a non-neutral message regarding personal security.
