Fuzhou to host World Cities Day 2026
Fuzhou, China, has been selected to host World Cities Day 2026, according to an announcement by UN-Habitat. The event will focus on the theme “Regenerating the city: adequate housing for all.”
The celebrations are scheduled to take place at the Fuzhou Strait International Conference and Exhibition Center. The event serves as the conclusion of UN-Habitat’s “Urban October,” a month-long campaign promoting sustainable urban development and housing access.
Discussions in Fuzhou will aim to address the global housing crisis by examining urban regeneration, the revitalization of existing spaces, and the promotion of inclusive, resilient, and sustainable cities. The program is expected to include high-level officials from the United Nations, national governments, local authorities, and the private sector, as well as the presentation of the Global Award for Sustainable Cities.
