FWICE supports Daler Mehndi in controversy involving Uttarakhand officials
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to express support for singer Daler Mehndi. The organization's intervention follows a controversy regarding Mehndi's conduct during a performance at the Siddhapeeth Maa Kunjapuri Tourism and Development Fair in New Tehri.
FWICE stated that the singer does not consume alcohol and is currently recovering from recent surgery and managing health issues. The federation argued that instead of public reprimands, situations involving artists should be handled with sensitivity, discretion, and professionalism.
The organization described the public criticism of such a senior artist as tragic for the entertainment industry and urged officials and event organizers to treat performers with respect and empathy regarding their health or performance conditions.
