FX premieres ‘The Drop: A Snowfall Saga’ set in 1990s Los Angeles

FX is set to premiere the first episode of ‘The Drop: A Snowfall Saga,’ titled ‘Click Pop,’ on Tuesday, September 8. Set in 1990s Los Angeles during the rise of West Coast rap, the series serves as a new chapter in the ‘Snowfall’ universe.

The story focuses on Wanda Bell (Gail Bean), who attempts to enter the music industry with the help of her cousin Lamar Kinsey (Asante Blackk) and local rapper Artillery (Simmie “Buddy” Sims III). The narrative also follows Leon Simmons (Isaiah John), who is attempting to find atonement through a free legal clinic while warning Wanda of the industry's dangers.

While the series functions as a successor to the original ‘Snowfall’ saga, it does not feature Damson Idris’s character, Franklin Saint. Critics note that while the absence of Idris changes the dynamic, the show maintains themes of survival, family, and legacy, offering a visually inventive exploration of characters pursuing the American dream.
