FX releases trailer for ‘Snowfall’ spin-off ‘The Drop’

FX and Hulu have released the official trailer for ‘The Drop: A Snowfall Saga’, a direct spin-off to the acclaimed crime drama ‘Snowfall’. The eight-episode series is scheduled to premiere on September 8, 2026.

Set in 1990s Los Angeles, the narrative explores the cultural shift from the crack epidemic to the rise of West Coast rap. The story follows returning characters Wanda Bell (Gail Bean) and Leon Simmons (Isaiah John) as they attempt to reinvent themselves. Wanda aims to build a career in the music industry, viewing hip-hop as a force capable of reshaping American culture, while Leon seeks atonement by running a free legal clinic.

The series depicts the intersection of the emerging music scene with street politics and crime. Wanda’s ambitions lead her to navigate dangerous territories, involving family members and local artists, while Leon struggles to distance himself from his past. The production is executive produced by Malcolm Spellman among others.
