FX's 'The Shards' drama series premieres on Disney+

FX’s new drama series "The Shards" (titled "Estilhaços" in Portuguese) premiered on Disney+ on 5 August (6 August in South Africa) as an exclusive streaming launch. The series is created by executive producer Ryan Murphy and adapts Bret Easton Ellis’s bestselling novel. It follows Bret (Igby Rigney), an observant high‑school senior, and his elite circle of peers as they navigate identity, sexuality and obsession in 1980s Los Angeles while a serial killer known as “The Trawler” targets teenagers.

The cast includes Kaia Gerber, Hayes Warner, Graham Campbell, Homer Gere, Evan Rachel Wood, Wes Bentley and Jordan Roth. Produced by 20th Television for FX, the series is available globally on Disney+ and was highlighted for its blend of Murphy’s and Ellis’s provocative storytelling.
