Ano Liosia fatal car accident kills 17-year-old girl

A fatal car accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday on Fyli Avenue, near Ano Liosia, resulting in the death of a 17-year-old girl. The vehicle, carrying a group of five young people, veered off course and struck a lighting pole with such force that the pole collapsed and parts of the car were thrown several meters away.

The driver, a 19-year-old, lost control of the vehicle, which initially hit the curb before the collision. Four other passengers, aged between 17 and 22, were injured. One 17-year-old girl is reported to be in intensive care with serious fractures to her ribs and pelvis, while the others are receiving medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries. The 19-year-old driver is currently hospitalized under guard.

Local residents have described the stretch of road connecting Chasia to Ano Liosia as a “death trap” due to its dangerous conditions and history of similar accidents. Authorities are investigating the exact causes of the crash, including the possibility of excessive speed or driver distraction.
