G-Dragon reflects on mental health and pressure following drug allegations

BIGBANG member G-Dragon has spoken about the intense pressure and mental exhaustion he faced following drug use allegations in late 2023. During an appearance on the web variety show ‘Excuse High School’, released on the YouTube channel ‘Ddeun Ddeun’, the singer reflected on his return to broadcasting after a seven-year hiatus.

G-Dragon described feeling “cornered” during the period of investigation. He revealed that the mental strain was so severe that he had to force himself to stay centered to avoid “dangerous things.” The allegations, which surfaced in November 2023, resulted in negative laboratory tests and a decision by police in December 2023 not to prosecute due to a lack of evidence.

Fellow BIGBANG member Daesung expressed sympathy for the artist, noting that public scrutiny regarding G-Dragon’s tone and gestures during previous appearances, such as on ‘You Quiz on the Block’, likely added to his sense of suppression. The variety show also featured Taeyang, Yoo Jae Suk, and Haha.
