G20 cross-border payment targets drive interest in XRP and Stellar
The G20 has established a roadmap to improve the speed, cost, and transparency of international payments. The initiative, coordinated by the Financial Stability Board (FSB), aims for at least 75% of cross-border payments to reach recipients within one hour by the end of 2027.
Additionally, the roadmap seeks to reduce the global average cost of retail cross-border payments to 1% or less, ensuring no individual payment corridor exceeds 3%.
Crypto researcher SMQKE has identified XRP and Stellar (XLM) as potential candidates to help the global financial system meet these objectives due to their support for rapid, low-cost transactions. However, the G20 has not officially designated either cryptocurrency as a solution for achieving these targets.
