G20 members have reached an agreement on the ‘Carolina Principles,’ a framework designed to regulate emerging technologies and artificial intelligence. Developed during a technology summit in North Carolina, the document advocates for sector-specific regulations and the creation of testing environments for new technologies before permanent standards are established.

The agreement aims to promote economic growth, productivity, and job creation by ensuring that regulatory delays do not hinder technological advancement. U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick confirmed the consensus, noting the goal of fostering global innovation. The principles are expected to be formally presented for adoption by G20 leaders during the upcoming summit in Doral, Florida.
