G7 Parliamentary Summit convenes in Paris
The 24th G7 Parliamentary Summit is being held in Paris from September 10 to 12, 2026. Hosted at the French National Assembly under the initiative of President Yaël Braun-Pivet, the summit brings together the heads of the lower houses of the world's seven major advanced economies: France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Japan.
During her introductory speech, Yaël Braun-Pivet called for parliamentary democracies to “make a bloc” around their fundamental principles to face global challenges. She emphasized the importance of multilateralism and argued that parliamentary diplomacy provides an agility and “freedom of tone” that can build bridges where executive diplomacy sometimes encounters obstacles.
In addition to G7 members, the summit includes participants such as European Parliament President Roberta Metsola and Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk. The event also serves as a moment of solidarity with the United States on the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
