GA-ASI partners with Spirit Defense for FQ-42 CCA production

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) has announced a partnership with Spirit Defense, a Boeing Company subsidiary, to support the airframe production of the FQ-42 Vengeance Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA).

Spirit Defense will serve as a fuselage design-build partner, utilizing its engineering and advanced manufacturing capabilities to support the program from the design phase through production. This collaboration aims to increase manufacturing capacity and industrial depth, allowing for faster scaling of CCA production while strengthening resilience and reducing the risk of single points of failure.

The U.S. Air Force intends to acquire as many as 500 Collaborative Combat Aircraft by 2032. The FQ-42 is a purpose-built, uncrewed fighter featuring a modular design that allows for the rapid integration of mission systems and autonomy software, facilitating human-machine teaming in complex combat scenarios.
