GAA community mourns Crossmaglen legend Margaret McConville
Margaret McConville, 90, the long‑time honorary president of Crossmaglen Rangers GAC, died on Tuesday. She served as club secretary from 1992 to 2003, received the GAA President's Award in 2011 and was celebrated as a pioneer for women in the sport. McConville was the mother of former Armagh All‑Ireland winner Oisín McConville and grandmother to current Armagh footballers Oisín and Rian O’Neill.
The club suspended all activities in tribute, and clubs across the island of Ireland posted condolences. Tributes highlighted her dedication, hospitality and the deep impact she had on the Crossmaglen and wider GAA community.
