Gabi Tamaș discusses career risks during time at Spartak Moscow
Former Romanian international footballer Gabi Tamaș has shared reflections on his early career while playing for Spartak Moscow in Russia. Tamaș stated that the excessive alcohol consumption and lifestyle of his teammates in Russia posed a significant threat to his professional future.
He recalled that the drinking culture was intense, involving a mix of vodka, wine, cognac, and whisky. Tamaș noted that after one year in the environment, he requested a loan move to avoid “100%” risking his career. He also identified former West Bromwich Albion player Goran Popov as one of the most frequent party-goers among his former colleagues.
