Gabon accelerates private investment and health infrastructure with new investment council and Islamic clinic launch
On 5 June 2026 Gabon’s High Council for Investment was relaunched at the Palais des Congrès in Libreville. Vice‑President Hermann Immongault, who chaired the meeting, said “the time for diagnoses is over” and outlined a target of 27 trillion CFA francs in new investment, expecting roughly 18 trillion to come from the private sector. The council’s mandate is to drive diversification beyond oil into industry, agriculture, infrastructure and the digital economy.
A day later, on 6 June 2026, the foundation stone for the Islamic King Faycal Clinic was laid in Port‑Gentil. The ceremony was led by Abdu‑Razzaq Guy Kambogo, head of Gabon’s Muslim community, alongside officials such as Benyamin Andjoua Obolo and Grand Imam Avissa Camara. The clinic is intended to provide modern, quality medical services to the city’s growing population, strengthening the local health system.
