Gabon advances urban development with large housing project in Owendo and road upgrades in Libreville

The Gabonese government is pursuing an ambitious urban transformation in the Libreville area. In Owendo, the "Berges de la Nomba" scheme, a partnership between the state and Moroccan developer ADDOHA, will deliver about 5,000 residential units over seven years. The project also includes schools, health facilities, shops, sports complexes, a marina and cycle paths, aiming to raise living standards and provide integrated services.

Meanwhile, the Sotega‑Nkembo corridor in Libreville’s second arrondissement is being refurbished by the construction firm CTI. Workers are rebuilding the pavement with reinforced concrete, improving drainage and addressing sewage, illegal parking and waste issues. The road is expected to reopen in roughly two weeks, restoring full traffic flow.

Both initiatives reflect Gabon’s effort to modernise infrastructure, address housing shortages and improve urban mobility.
