Gabon and Mali advance international cooperation and diaspora initiatives

Gabon's Council of Ministers has adopted eight draft laws to ratify various international conventions. These strategic instruments cover defense, security, air transport, and human rights. Key defense agreements include a military cooperation framework with Italy and a protocol with Türkiye regarding military health training and cooperation. Additionally, Gabon adopted the status of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation's police coordination center.

In terms of sovereignty and infrastructure, the government moved to ratify the African Union's Niamey Convention on transborder cooperation, an air transport services agreement with Belgium, and the International Hydrographic Organization convention. Social protections were also addressed through the ratification of the African Union Convention on the elimination of violence against women and girls, and the Hague Convention on the protection of children and international adoption.

In Mali, the Council of Ministers reviewed several files concerning the Malian diaspora, employment, and professional training. The government noted the recent Grand Forum of the Malian Youth Diaspora in Philadelphia and the launch of a digital platform in Washington designed to catalog the skills of Malians living abroad. Furthermore, Mali participated in a technical cooperation meeting in Cairo focused on human capital development.
