Gabon celebrates third Liberation Day with infrastructure focus
Gabon is celebrating the third edition of Liberation Day, marking the anniversary of the 2023 transition. In the Ogooué-Ivindo province, President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema highlighted significant infrastructural developments aimed at regional growth. These projects include the inauguration of several municipal buildings, a new bank (BCEG), a women's market, housing for officials, and the Ivindo Palace hotel. Additionally, water production capacity in Makokou has been doubled through the rehabilitation of a water tower and a new production station.
In the Haut-Ogooué province, the ceremony in Franceville was led by Governor Jacques Denis Tsanga and military Governor Colonel Vincent Guinguimba. During his address, Governor Tsanga described August 30, 2023, as a “major historical rupture” that ended a period of governance deficiencies. He noted progress in road infrastructure and local raw material processing but emphasized that the transition must be accompanied by a change in mindset, urging citizens to prioritize the general interest and collective prosperity.
