Gabon deepens UK partnership and upgrades aviation security with UK, US firms

President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema met British High Commissioner Simon Day in Libreville, reaffirming a strategic partnership focused on sustainable development, green economy initiatives and Gabon's upcoming participation in the Commonwealth summit. Day praised Gabon's reforms and said the bilateral relationship was "excellent and constantly progressing."

In a parallel move, the Gabonese government announced two security contracts with Britain’s Westminster Group Plc and the U.S. firm SECURIPORT LLC to modernize the country’s air transport sector. The agreements aim to lock down Gabon's airspace, upgrade airport infrastructure and strengthen aviation safety standards, reflecting a broader effort to attract foreign investment and improve governance.

Both actions illustrate Gabon’s push to diversify partnerships, enhance institutional capacity and position itself as a stable, investment‑friendly hub in Central Africa.
