Gabon economy shows stable inflation and rising oil revenues

Gabon is reporting significant economic indicators regarding inflation stability and energy sector performance. According to IMF data cited by African Exponent, Gabon is among the African nations with the lowest inflation rates for 2026, with an estimated average annual rate of 0.8%. National data supports this, showing inflation at 0.94% in September 2026, which remains well below the 3% ceiling set by the CEMAC community.

In the energy sector, Maurel & Prom reported a consolidated turnover of 335 billion FCFA for the first nine months of 2026, representing a 17% increase compared to the previous year. This growth is largely driven by rising global oil prices, with the group's average selling price reaching $98.8 per barrel, a 40% increase year-on-year. While production value reached approximately 304 billion FCFA, the revenue surge highlights the impact of market prices on extractive industries in Gabon.
