Gabon government announces affordable housing and land regularization plans
During the first edition of the Housing Open Days in Libreville, the Gabonese government announced ambitions to develop economic housing units priced between 12 million and 15 million FCFA. Housing Minister Mays Mouissi called on banks to develop long-term mortgage financing to support these initiatives, noting that structural issues regarding credit access remain a challenge for modest-income households.
Additionally, the National Agency for Urbanism, Topographic Works, and Cadastre (ANUTTC) detailed procedures to accelerate land regularization and facilitate property ownership. Caretta Pascale N’Guiah, the provincial director for Estuaire, explained that users can regularize parcels acquired from third parties by submitting a form and paying a 50,000 FCFA processing fee.
The ANUTTC is also distributing developed plots in Bolokoboué, Nkoltang, and Ocolassi at a fixed rate of 5,000 FCFA per square meter. Buyers can utilize installment plans requiring an initial deposit of 300,000 FCFA, with the remaining balance payable over 24 months.
