Gabon government announces road expansion projects in Grand Libreville
The Gabonese government has entered the operational phase of road widening and development projects in the Grand Libreville area. During a joint press conference on October 30, 2026, officials announced that the clearing of rights-of-way is scheduled to begin on November 4, 2026.
The infrastructure projects focus on two strategic axes: the Dispensaire d’Okala to the SEEG exit, and the Lac Bleu to Diba-Diba route. These developments aim to modernize the capital's road network and improve traffic flow.
To support affected residents, the government has initiated compensation payments. Additionally, land preparation for new residential plots, intended to house displaced populations, began on October 31, 2026. The National Agency for Urbanism, Topographic Works, and Cadastre (ANUTTC) is responsible for identifying affected individuals, evaluating property, and managing resettlement at sites such as Malibé and Ntoum.
