Gabon government holds consultations on Okala road project

The Gabonese government has initiated a dialogue with residents in Okala, Libreville, regarding a project to widen the road connecting Okala to Kanal 7. The meeting, attended by officials including Interior Minister Adrien Nguema Mba and Housing Minister Mays Mouissi, aimed to address community concerns regarding land rights and potential demolitions.

The road project is intended to improve traffic flow and provide essential access to a future Institute for Cardio-Neurovascular Diseases. Minister Mouissi clarified that the current plans are not yet definitive and that community feedback will help shape the final version of the development.

To ensure precision, the National Agency for Urbanism, Topography, and Cadastre (ANUTTC) will conduct technical studies and a census of affected properties. This approach follows a presidential directive to prioritize public consultation before implementing major infrastructure projects.
