Gabon honors 1,560 citizens with national orders

Gabon celebrated its national sovereignty and honored 1,560 citizens during a ceremony held on August 16, 2026, at the Senate esplanade. The event was presided over by Head of State Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema and First Lady Zita Oligui Nguema.

The recipients, representing various sectors including administration, defense, security, economy, and liberal professions, were awarded distinctions such as the Order of the Equatorial Star and the Order of Gabonese Merit. These awards range from the rank of Knight to the Grand Cross.
