Gabon hosts forum to mobilize domestic savings for national development

The National Forum for Savings and Development (FONED) is being held in Libreville to address the strategic challenge of financing Gabon’s National Growth and Development Program (PNCD) 2026-2030 through domestic resources.

Marius Issa Nkori, Managing Director of the Caisse de dépôts et de consignations (CDC), emphasized that the goal is to transform existing savings—including bank deposits, insurance funds, pension funds, and diaspora transfers—into productive, long-term investments. The CDC aims to act as a ‘third-party trusted partner’ and a catalyst, working complementarily with banks and insurance companies rather than replacing them.

The forum serves as a platform for reflection and experience sharing, seeking to identify mechanisms adapted to the Gabonese context to bridge the gap between available financial capacity and the needs of the real economy.
