Gabon hosts regional security and reinsurance initiatives

Gabon is hosting several significant regional initiatives aimed at strengthening continental cooperation in both security and finance.

In Libreville, the Africa Senior Enlisted Leaders Conference (ASELC) 2026 has commenced. Co-organized by the Gabonese armed forces and the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), the four-day event brings together senior non-commissioned officers from various African militaries. The forum focuses on enhancing security cooperation and sharing best practices to increase the autonomy of African partners in managing their own security operations.

In the financial sector, the Gabonese reinsurer SCG-Ré is participating in a three-day seminar in Accra, Ghana, alongside Ghana Re. The event involves delegations from nine African nations and is part of SCG-Ré’s strategy to expand beyond the limited Gabonese national market. By integrating more deeply into the African reinsurance market, the company aims to diversify its portfolio and strengthen local expertise in risk management across the continent.
