Gabon karate officials secure full qualification at UFAK 2026

The Gabonese karate delegation achieved significant technical success during the UFAK 2026 African Karate Championship in Algiers. All three referees entered for the continental examinations—Yvon Agaya, Chingouagoye Ange Florent, and Koumba Alain Borgia—successfully qualified. Agaya completed theoretical and practical papers on 6 and 7 September, while Chingouagoye and Koumba passed the continental kata judge-referee examination on 8 September.

In addition to the refereeing success, the delegation saw mixed results in the coaching seminar. Out of three technical instructors who sat the examination, two were admitted and one failed. These certifications are viewed as a way for Gabon to regain its presence and influence within continental karate administration following a period of absence from major African meetings.
