Gabon launches AI training and loan program for entrepreneurs
Gabon has initiated a three-week artificial intelligence training program in Libreville for 100 young entrepreneurs. Launched by Zenaba Gninga Chaning, the Minister of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, the program is supported by UNESCO and AKEWA Accélérateur. The cohort consists of 25 women and 75 men between the ages of 18 and 45.
The training is part of a larger initiative to support 400 beneficiaries across various sectors, including IT, catering, and event decoration. To address high youth unemployment and limited credit access, the ministry has partnered with the Gabon Guarantee Company and the microfinance institution Épargne et Développement du Gabon. This partnership aims to provide up to CFA180 million in guaranteed loans at preferential social rates, alongside one year of follow-up support and legal assistance to help formalize businesses.
