Gabon launches electronic document management platform
Gabon has launched a pilot Electronic Document Management (GED) platform to modernize its public administration and reduce reliance on paper-based processes. Developed by the National Agency for Digital Infrastructure and Frequencies (ANINF), the system allows government agencies to securely register, classify, search, share, and preserve documents electronically.
The pilot phase involves two institutions: the General Secretariat of the Government (SGG), which will use the system to manage correspondence and administrative acts, and the Directorate-General for Examinations and Competitions (DGEC), which will manage files collected across Gabon's nine provinces. The platform includes features such as digital signatures, QR codes, and barcodes to improve correspondence tracking and accelerate file processing.
This initiative follows the adoption of Ordinance No. 0003/PR/2026 in February, which established a legal framework for electronic archiving. Minister of Digital Economy, Digitalisation and Innovation Mark-Alexandre Doumba stated the system is intended to facilitate the dematerialisation of document flows and secure administrative archives as part of a broader digital transformation roadmap.
