Gabon launches inspections of unaccredited private schools

The Inspection générale des services (IGS) has launched unannounced inspections of private schools in Libreville, Gabon, that offer the French curriculum without official accreditation. This move follows a year-long period of awareness campaigns intended to encourage compliance with national regulations.

Under the direction of Minister of National Education Camélia Ntoutoume Leclercq, the inspections aim to ensure schools possess proper authorization to operate and that their teaching staff and materials meet legal standards. Officials noted that schools must also incorporate Gabonese citizenship education alongside the French program. Failure to regularize status may result in fines or school closures.
