Gabon launches national transport company after merger

Gabon's Minister of State for Transport, Ulrich Manfoumbi Manfoumbi, chaired the signing of a merger treaty in Libreville between the Société gabonaise de transport (Sogatra) and Trans’Urb. The agreement creates the Compagnie Nationale de Transport (CNT), a public operator responsible for urban and inter‑urban passenger services, freight, hydrocarbon transport and VIP transport. The merger, described as a fusion‑absorption with Trans’Urb absorbing Sogatra first, aims to provide an economically viable and sustainable national carrier, improve sector governance, optimise resources, raise service quality and support Gabon's economic development.
