Gabon and Mali advance regional political and scientific initiatives

Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema has reaffirmed Gabon's support for Guinea-Bissau's political transition during a working visit by Guinea-Bissau's transitional leader, General Horta Inta A Na Man. Oligui Nguema expressed Gabon's willingness to share its experience regarding institutional discipline and adhering to political calendars to facilitate a return to constitutional order. The discussions highlighted the importance of upcoming elections in Guinea-Bissau, including a constitutional referendum and a presidential election scheduled for December 6, 2026.

In Mali, the government is preparing for two major events in Bamako. The Council of Ministers, led by President Assimi Goïta, discussed the upcoming 24th African Traditional Medicine Day on August 31, 2026. This year's theme focuses on utilizing scientific research into African medicine and pharmacopoeia to enhance Mali's health sovereignty. Additionally, the government is organizing the University Entrance Fair in mid-September to strengthen links between higher education, research, and the professional sector.
