Gabon President Oligui Nguema to get 'stratospheric' welcome on state visit to France

Gabon’s President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema is scheduled for his first state visit to France since taking office. The Gabonese embassy in Paris, led by Alfred Nguia Banda, urged the diaspora to organise a “stratospheric” reception, describing the trip as a chance to “reactivate, warm and strengthen” the long‑standing bilateral relationship. The communiqué called for patriotic participation and announced that security for the visit will be overseen jointly by the Quai d’Orsay, French police and the Gabonese embassy.

The visit is presented as a historic moment for Gabon, aiming to cement ties between the two heads of state and showcase Gabon’s international profile under the new leadership.
