Gabon President pledges infrastructure development in Ogooué-Ivindo

Gabon President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema has announced plans to address infrastructure and social needs in the Bakwaka village within the Ogooué-Ivindo province. During a visit to the region, the President pledged to facilitate the construction of a secondary school in the Makébé-bakwaka district, road paving to improve accessibility, a water tower, a health center to reduce mortality rates, and the provision of a generator and local administration services.

In conjunction with the upcoming National Liberation Day celebrations on August 30, a symposium titled “L'Ogooué-Ivindo à l'aune de la Libération” was held in Makokou. Presided over by Senate President Huguette Nyana Ekoume-Awori Onanga, the event brought together intellectuals to discuss leveraging the province's mining, forest, and biodiversity resources to drive economic growth. The symposium aimed to position Ogooué-Ivindo as a central hub for the Gabonese economy following the political shifts initiated by the defense and security forces in August 2023.
