Gabon pushes industrial development and commemorates independence with new monument

Vice‑President Hermann Immongault, representing President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, launched Gabon's new industrial era at a forum in Perth. He stressed a shift from exporting raw minerals to building local value‑chains, highlighting the Belinga iron‑ore project developed with Australian miner Fortescue. Immongault said Gabon will integrate infrastructure, energy, processing, technical training and environmental standards, adding that the country is ready for Sino‑Australian investors.

President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema later visited the construction site of the Georges Damas Aleka monument on Libreville’s Independence Boulevard. Ahead of the 66th independence anniversary on 17 August, he inspected the structure, landscaping and public spaces, urging quality work, timely completion and the monument’s role as a symbol of national memory and civic education.
