Gabon receives 144 heavy machines for Makokou-Mékambo-Ekata road project

The MARIPOMA/BSK STALLION GABON consortium has received 144 pieces of heavy equipment intended for the paving of a 260-kilometer road connecting Makokou, Mékambo, and Ekata in northeastern Gabon. The equipment, which includes 42 pick-ups, 32 trucks, 12 compactors, 9 graders, 6 bulldozers, 6 lowboys, 6 tankers, and 4 hydraulic excavators, was presented during a ceremony in Akanda presided over by the Minister of Public Works and Construction, Edgard Moukoumbi.

The delivery aims to address a nine-month delay in the project's commencement. Minister Moukoumbi emphasized the urgency of mobilizing resources to meet the expectations of the Ogooué-Ivindo population, specifically noting the need to prioritize the heavily degraded section between Mékambo, Ekata, and the Congo border.

Beyond road construction, the project is expected to create approximately 2,000 direct jobs and 1,200 indirect jobs. It also includes provisions for water drilling, public lighting, and the rehabilitation of local schools and clinics.
