Gabon Senate advances hearings on 2026 budget revision law

Gabon's Senate continued hearings on the 2026 budget revision law (LFR) as the government seeks to rebalance state finances and restore budget credibility. On 20 June, Economy, Finance and Debt Minister Thierry Minko and Planning Minister Louise Pierrette Mvono presented the revised budget, noting a reduction of 862.9 billion FCFA in total allocations, with projected revenues of 2,928.2 billion FCFA and expenditures of 5,180 billion FCFA. The investment component was cut by 973 billion FCFA to 1,202 billion FCFA. The hearings are part of a “collective budget” process that allows Parliament to amend the text before the end of the fiscal year, with the parliamentary session slated to close on 30 June.

Subsequent sessions featured other cabinet members, including Education Minister Camélia Ntoutoume‑Leclercq, Health Minister Elza Nkana Ayo‑Bivigou, Public Works Minister Edgard Moukoumbi and Petroleum Minister Clotaire Kondja, each outlining their departmental budgets in line with President Brice Oligui Nguema’s development vision. Lawmakers are pressing for a plenary vote by the weekend.
