Gabon: SGEPP denies fuel shortage rumors as SOGATRA workers resume strike
The Société gabonaise d’entreposage de produits pétroliers (SGEPP) has issued a statement to dispel rumors regarding potential fuel and gas shortages in the Grand Libreville area. The company assured the public that current stock levels in its various depots are sufficient to maintain a continuous supply to service stations across the national territory.
SGEPP urged citizens to remain calm and avoid excessive purchasing, which could cause unnecessary disruptions to the distribution chain. The company advised consumers to rely on official information rather than social media speculation.
Separately, labor unions at the Société gabonaise de transport (SOGATRA) have ended their strike suspension. Union representatives announced the resumption of industrial action due to two months of unpaid salaries and unfulfilled agreements by management. Workers also expressed concerns regarding a lack of transparency concerning a proposed merger between SOGATRA and Trans’Urb, calling for presidential intervention to resolve the crisis.
