Gabon updates AfCFTA strategy to boost private sector trade

Gabon is accelerating its preparations to leverage intra-African trade through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The government is working to validate a revised national plan to strengthen the presence of local businesses within the regional market.

This strategic roadmap focuses on empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and young entrepreneurs. The goal is to facilitate their access to external markets and integrate them into sub-regional and pan-African value chains. To support this initiative, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) has committed to providing technical assistance to enhance institutional capacity, promote the private sector, and improve national industrial competitiveness.
