Director Gabriel Azorín discusses his debut film, ‘Anoche conquisté Tebas’, which premiered at the Giornate degli Autori during the Venice Film Festival. The film is described as an intimate and unique work that explores different layers of time and reality through a dreamlike narrative.

The inspiration for the project originated at the Baños de Bande, Roman thermal ruins in Spain. Azorín recounts how a personal experience observing the starry sky from the ancient baths led to a fascination with the historical continuity of the location. By using light-sensitive cameras and removing modern elements from the footage, the production aimed to capture images that feel timeless, blurring the lines between the present and the distant past.
