Miguel Ángel Riquelme sworn in as mayor of Torreón

Miguel Ángel Riquelme Solís was formally sworn in as the substitute mayor of Torreón, Coahuila, during a solemn Cabildo session attended by state Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas and other officials. The appointment follows the unanimous congressional decision to replace the late mayor Román Alberto Cepeda González and will carry the municipality through the remainder of the 2025‑2027 term.

Governor Jiménez highlighted a continued partnership with Riquelme, promising historic investment in public services and a reinforced security strategy for Torreón, the Laguna region and the state. He stressed that “the work in team always gives better results” and pledged coordination with municipal authorities and the armed forces.

Riquelme affirmed his commitment to maintain and expand ongoing projects, particularly in public safety, and thanked the governor for the support. Local leaders, including mayor Carlos Villarreal, also attended, noting the importance of collaborative governance for the city’s development.
