Young politician Gabriel Guilherme, who ran for a seat in Cuiabá's municipal council at 19, organized a public gathering to thank two key supporters – former First Lady Virginia Mendes and ex‑state education secretary Alan Porto. Both Mendes and Porto are now candidates in upcoming elections, with Mendes slated for a federal deputy race and Porto for a state deputy seat in Mato Grosso. Guilherme, now a staff member of the Mato Grosso State Education Secretariat, will have his own candidacy confirmed at a party convention on 4 August.

The event coincides with a broader trend of attention‑grabbing candidate names in Brazil's 2023 elections. A recent survey of ballot registrations in Bahia listed nicknames such as “Bad Boy,” “Zebra dos Animais,” and “Cartão Vermelho,” while federal candidates include monikers like “AlexShow” and “Baby.” The Superior Electoral Court permits names up to 30 characters, provided they are not obscene or ridiculous, and the deadline for filing is 15 October.
