Gabriel Jesus rejects Flamengo approach to prioritize Palmeiras

Gabriel Jesus has revealed that he declined an approach from Flamengo prior to his transfer from Arsenal to FC Barcelona. In an interview with TV Bandeirantes, the 29-year-old striker explained that while Flamengo sought to discuss a potential return to Brazil, he chose not to advance negotiations due to his deep connection with his formative club, Palmeiras.

Jesus stated that he politely thanked the Rio de Janeiro club but emphasized his identity as a product of Palmeiras. He noted that just as Flamengo hopes for their academy graduates to return, he maintains a singular loyalty to the club where he rose to prominence between 2015 and 2016.

Currently playing for Barcelona with a contract running until June 2029, Jesus expressed that he is focused on his career in Europe and intends to fulfill his current commitment. However, he clarified that should he ever return to Brazilian football, Palmeiras remains his absolute priority.
