FC Barcelona prioritizes stadium completion and player sales for financial stability

FC Barcelona is navigating complex financial and structural transitions. Economic Vice President Ferran Olivé stated that while the club expects to achieve positive fair play by the January transfer window, the ‘1:1 rule’ remains a constraint. To make significant new signings, the club must first finalize player departures, as current surplus is estimated at only 3 to 4 million euros.

The club’s primary financial priority is the completion of the Spotify Camp Nou remodeling. Olivé noted that the project is essential for increasing revenue through sponsorships and retail, with projected annual incomes from the stadium reaching between 425 and 450 million euros. The club aims to return to the stadium by January 2028, with the roof expected to be finished by late 2027.

On the pitch, Hansi Flick’s squad has maintained a strong performance level, winning eight consecutive matches. However, concerns have been raised regarding player fatigue and injury risks, specifically concerning Raphinha’s extensive travel schedule with the Brazilian national team. Additionally, interest remains high in players like Julián Álvarez, though Atlético Madrid has reportedly offered incentives to retain him, including potential reductions in his release clause based on goal milestones.
