Gabriel Le Senne trial scheduled for October 2027

The Provincial Court has scheduled the trial of Gabriel Le Senne, the neo-fascist militant serving as President of the Parliament, for October 25 to 29, 2027. Le Senne is accused of hate crimes following an incident in June 2024 during a parliamentary session regarding the repeal of the Balearic Memory Law. During that session, he reportedly destroyed photographs of Aurora Picornell and other women killed during the Spanish Civil War.

During a preliminary hearing, the court addressed evidence and procedural questions. The defense has raised arguments regarding parliamentary immunity and has challenged the standing of certain accusing parties. Prosecutors and victim advocacy groups, including the association ‘Estimada Aurora’, are seeking prison sentences ranging from 1.5 to 4 years.

The court rejected the call for historian David Ginard to testify as an expert witness, though his work may be introduced as documentary evidence. Additionally, the defense has contested the status of the Association for the Recovery of Historical Memory of Mallorca as a private prosecution party.
