Al-Hilal signs Gabriel Martinelli from Arsenal for record fee
Al-Hilal has officially signed Brazilian winger Gabriel Martinelli from Arsenal in a record-breaking transfer. The deal is valued at approximately €70 million (£60 million), making it the most expensive sale in Arsenal's history. Martinelli has committed to a four-year contract with the Saudi Pro League club, which will keep him in Riyadh until 2030.
Martinelli, 25, joins Al-Hilal following a seven-year tenure in North London where he made 278 appearances and scored 62 goals. His move comes after he fell out of favor with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. The transfer was reportedly supported by Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, who covered the costs of the deal.
At Al-Hilal, Martinelli will wear the number 7 shirt and join a high-profile squad that includes players like Sergej Milinković-Savić, Ollie Watkins, and Crysencio Summerville. His arrival marks the third major signing for the club from the English Premier League this summer.
