Gabriel Medina advances at WSL Fiji event as Luana Silva is eliminated

At the World Surf League (WSL) Fiji Championship Tour, Brazilian surfers have seen mixed results at Cloudbreak. Gabriel Medina advanced to the round of 16 after defeating Australia’s Joel Vaughan with a score of 13.94 to 9.83. Medina, a three-time world champion, expressed a renewed focus on his performance following a challenging personal period involving family loss.

Other Brazilian men advancing in the competition include Samuel Pupo, Yago Dora, Italo Ferreira, and Miguel Pupo. In the women’s division, Luana Silva was eliminated in the second round after losing to Hawaii’s Bettylou Sakura Johnson with a score of 14.60 to 9.00. Silva, currently ranked fifth in the world, finished the Fiji stage in ninth place.
