Gabriel Medina suffers head injury during training in Teahupoo
Brazilian professional surfer Gabriel Medina sustained a head injury during a training session at Teahupoo, Tahiti, while preparing for a World Surf League (WSL) event. The three-time world champion required stitches due to a cut, but reports indicate he is expected to participate in the competition, scheduled from August 8 to 18.
Medina is currently ranked fourth in the WSL standings. His upcoming match in Round 2 is set to be against the winner of the heat between Eli Hanneman and legendary surfer Kelly Slater.
Separately, Medina and his wife, Isabella Arantes, recently shared that they suffered a pregnancy loss. The news follows their recent wedding in São Paulo, where they had initially announced they were expecting their first child. Despite this personal loss, Medina has remained focused on his professional commitments in French Polynesia.
