Gabriel Medina sparks controversy after reposting post calling Neymar retired

Surfer Gabriel Medina caused a stir on social media after reposting a publication that referred to football player Neymar Jr. as “aposentado” (retired). The post, which Medina later deleted, included comments from internet users criticizing Neymar following a recent exchange of provocations with Tottenham striker Richarlison.

The tension between the athletes began when Richarlison shared AI-generated images of himself on an island in Angra dos Reis. Neymar responded to the post by writing, “Próxima vez lê o contrato, seu moleque” (Next time read the contract, kid), accompanied by laughing emojis.

Medina and Neymar have long been close friends, leading to speculation regarding their relationship after the repost. Neither athlete has publicly confirmed a personal disagreement.
